Decisions decisions

Since I last wrote, after much research, we have decided to switch care from an ob to a midwife and have a home birth. Sharing the news with family has been stressful, and in some cases, painful. But as long as little Allison Faith and I stay healthy and normal it is the best decision for us.

We are also in the middle of house shopping. Things are getting bothersome because we would really like to have a home before the home birth...

  1. Hey there! Glad you started a blog. It's such a fun way to keep everyone up to date and to show off the little one. :) I'll have to add you to our blog roll.

On a side note...I don't want to sound unsupportive so bear with me. I think you're really brave for wanting to do a home birth and I think it's really great that you want the baby to be immediately "at home." Please just be super careful and have a good back up plan. Gabriel had some heart rate issues and I had to be put on oxygen for most of the labor to help keep him safe (and myself safe). Everything can be perfectly fine while pregnant but you never know what will happen in labor. It turns out my contractions were squishing him onto his cord...never a problem pre-labor. So make sure you really research it and choose someone who is going to tell you if you need to do it at a hospital in the long run. It's a nice goal to have...having the baby at home...but always keep in the back of your mind that you may have to do it in a hospital, and if that happens it's okay. :)

I hope it all goes perfectly smooth though of course, and I'm sure it will. :) Keep up the posts!
